ABOUT ME
As a registered psychologist, I've undergone years of professional training. I completed my undergraduate degree in Psychology at the University of Exeter and hold a professional doctorate in Counselling Psychology from City University, London. I have over twenty years' experience of providing services to people with a range of psychological and interpersonal difficulties. I'm an Associate Fellow of the British Psychological Society and I'm registered with the Health and Care Professions Council. This is the government body that regulates Health Care Professionals.

I've worked for the NHS in community mental health teams and older adults services, within prisons and secure hospitals, for the Priory private healthcare group and for charity and third sector organisations. I specialise in providing trauma-informed psychological consultancy to Public Inquiries, and previously worked as the Chief Psychologist to the Independent Inquiry into Child Sexual Abuse. I currently occupy the same role at the Covid 19 Inquiry. Alongside my consultancy role, I run a small independent psychology practice in Winchester, Hampshire and guest lecture at a variety of Universities in the South of England.
I have a particular interest in psychological trauma. Much of my clinical work involves helping people to recover from traumatic experiences and in my consultancy work, I help organisations respond more sensitively to people who are traumatised and experiencing mental illness. I'm qualified (Level 3 of 3) in a specialist therapy for trauma - Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing Therapy - EMDR. I receive supervision for this from an EMDR Consultant.

I have given several interviews in the media - you can read and listen to them here. I enjoy keeping my skills and knowledge up to date by attending training, conferences and engaging in peer learning groups. I receive regular clinical supervision from experienced practitioners.

HOW I WORK
My personal style is open, respectful and collaborative. Whether you're looking for psychological counselling, supervision or consultancy, I'll seek to understand exactly what you need and how I can help. I'll be transparent about what I can offer and empower you to achieve your aims.

If you're considering psychological counselling, you may want a sense of what 'sort' of therapist I am. Clients often describe me as kind, supportive and thoughtful. I focus upon establishing a trusting and compassionate therapeutic relationship in which you feel heard and valued.
